Men’s basketball team defeated by Madonna, 76-48, at MIAA-WHAC Challenge
The Olivet College men’s basketball team dropped a 76-48 decision to Madonna University tonight in the first game of the Fourth Annual MIAA-WHAC Challenge, hosted by University of Michigan-Dearborn.
DEARBORN, Mich. – The Olivet College men's basketball team dropped a 76-48 decision to Madonna University tonight in the first game of the Fourth Annual MIAA-WHAC Challenge, hosted by University of Michigan-Dearborn.
After shooting 16.7 percent (5-of-30) in the first half, Olivet did a little better in the second half at 33.3 percent (11-of-33). For the game, the Comets made just 16-of-63 baskets (25.4 percent). The Crusaders were more efficient, shooting 48.5 percent (16-of-33) in the first half and 45.3 percent (29-of-54) for the game.
Senior Jaren Edsall (Whitehall) led Olivet with 16 points, including four baskets from behind the arc. Junior Matt El (Allegan) posted a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also blocked five shots. Junior Dakotah Ellis (Birch Run) scored six points and grabbed eight rebounds.
Madonna was led by Travis Schuba who scored 16 points. Matt Jenkins and Fred Williams finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Three Crusaders each grabbed six rebounds.
Olivet (0-2) will play the host Wolves tomorrow in the second day of the challenge. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
