Evans named MIAA Player of the Week

Olivet College junior Andre Evans (Muskegon/Muskegon Heights) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week honors in men's basketball. He is being honored for the first time this season.
Evans scored a team-high 16 points, including 4-of-6 shooting from behind the three-point arc, as the Comets gave NCAA Division II foe Grand Valley State University a battle before falling, 66-58. He also grabbed seven rebounds and drained 4-of-4 free throws.
For the season, Evans leads Olivet with 18 three-pointers, 47 assists and 12 steals. He is third in scoring at 12.8 points per game.
The Comets (4-5) return to the court tomorrow when they play the host Tigers in the first round of the Charles B. Zimmerman Memorial Tournament at Wittenberg (Ohio) University. Game time is 7 p.m.
