Olivet College junior center Michael McClary (Bellaire) has earned Player of the Week honors from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) in men's basketball. He has been honored six times this season and eight times in his career.
McClary scored 61 points and pulled 23 rebounds, as the Comets split two MIAA contests last week. In a 91-73 win at Trine (Ind.) University Feb, 10, he scored a career-high 37 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. McClary then scored 24 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and blocked three shots in a 63-59 loss to Adrian College Feb. 13. For the week, McClary shot 67.6 percent (25-of-37) from the field and 78.6 percent (11-of-14) from the charity stripe.
For the season, McClary is averaging a double-double, 20.8 and 11.0 rpg. He is shooting 53.9 percent (200-of-371) from the field. This season, McClary has 15 double-doubles, including nine (six straight) in league play.
The Comets (11-12, 6-6 MIAA) will play their final two MIAA regular season games this week. On Wednesday, they travel to play Alma College at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, they host Kalamazoo College at 3 p.m.
