Olivet College’s McClary named MIAA Player of the Week
Olivet College sophomore center Michael McClary (Bellaire) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for men’s basketball.
Olivet College sophomore center Michael McClary (Bellaire) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for men's basketball.
McClary scored 44 points, grabbed 28 rebounds and blocked seven shots, as the Comets won a pair of non-league games Dec. 5-6 at the MIAA-WHAC Classic at Alma College. In a 70-66 win over Madonna University Dec. 5, he scored 20 points and recorded season-highs in rebounds (17) and blocks (five). McClary followed that performance with a career-high 24 points to go along with 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks in an 83-73 win over University of Mich.-Dearborn Dec. 6. For the weekend, McClary made 19-of-31 (61 percent) shots from the field and 6-of-9 free throws.
For the season, McClary is second on the team in scoring (16.4 ppg) and leads the MIAA in rebounding (11.1 rpg) and blocks (13). He has posted five double-doubles this season to give him 18 for his career.
Olivet (4-4) will travel to play Spring Arbor University Friday for a 7 p.m. game.
