Men’s basketball team loses to Hope, 92-64
The Olivet College men’s basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association co-leader Hope College, 92-64, tonight at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland.
The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association co-leader Hope College, 92-64, tonight at the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland. With the loss, Olivet slips to fourth-place in the MIAA standings with a 4-4 record.
In the first half, Hope got off to a fast start, leading by nine points, 12-3. Olivet came back and tied the game at 18-18. The Flying Dutchmen quickly answered with a jumper, and they never trailed the rest of the game.
Senior Brandon McClary (Bellaire) led the Comets with 15 points. Sophomore Andre Evans (Muskegon/Muskegon Heights) contributed 13 points. Sophomore Michael McClary (Bellaire) scored six points and grabbed a team-leading six rebounds. Junior Andy Clark (Lansing/Perry) finished with eight points and five rebounds.
Hope had five players reach double figures, led by Jesse Reimink's 20 points. Peter Bunn and Chris Nelis each scored 12. David Krombeen and Will Bowser added 11 and 10 points, respectively. Nelis pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.
Olivet will host Trine (Ind.) University Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 7:30 p.m.
