Olivet College’s McClary brothers earn 2009 All-MIAA second-team honors
Two Olivet College men’s basketball players -- senior Brandon McClary (Bellaire) and sophomore Michael McClary (Bellaire) -- have earned 2009 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honors.
Two Olivet College men's basketball players -- senior Brandon McClary (Bellaire) and sophomore Michael McClary (Bellaire) -- have earned 2009 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) honors. Brandon is a first-team selection, while Michael is a second-team selection. All-MIAA honors are based on a player's statistics during the 14-game league schedule.
Brandon led the Comets and was third in the MIAA in scoring at 17.3 ppg. He also ranked among the league leaders in offensive rebounds (1st, 54), rebounding (2nd, 8.4 rpg), field goal percentage (2nd, 51.8%), free throw percentage (5th, 79.6%), steals (2nd, 27), blocked shots (5th, 12), defensive rebounds (5th, 64) and minutes played (tied for second, 478).
Michael was the MIAA's leading rebounder at 8.6 rpg. His rankings in other statistical categories were second in blocks (21), second in defensive rebounds (86), fourth in minutes played (449) and sixth in offensive rebounds (35).
Led by second-year Head Coach Gene Gifford, the Comets finished the season with a 13-14 overall record and were fourth in the MIAA with a 7-7 record. Olivet also advanced to the MIAA Tournament semifinals
