The Olivet College men's basketball team came up short against Adrian College, 68-64, today at the Upton Center in Olivet.
The first half featured seven tied scores with the last time being 27-all with 3:26 left before the break. Following that tie, Adrian scored 10 of the last 15 points of the half to take a 37-32 into the locker rooms.
Olivet scored the first five points of the second half to tie the game. The Comets gained the lead and led by as many as five points on two occasions, including 49-44 at the 13:07 mark. The Bulldogs came back to take the lead, and following five more ties, they took the lead for good with 1:41 left in the game.
Junior Brandon McClary (Bellaire) and freshman Michael McClary (Bellaire) each posted their second double-double in three games. Brandon had 14 points and 11 rebounds, while younger brother, Michael, finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Senior Brandon Way (Detroit/Southwestern) joined them in double figures with 13 points.
Desmond Young led Adrian with a game-high 21 points. Ian Weber posted a double-double, 15 points and 12 rebounds. Lamar Cardenas and Ryan Gallus each scored 10 points.
Olivet will travel to play MIAA leader Hope College Wednesday, Feb. 6. Tip-off from the DeVos Fieldhouse in Holland is 7:30 p.m.
