The Olivet College men’s basketball team started the second half of its Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) schedule on a high note, defeating Alma College, 55-50, this afternoon in Alma.

The Comets' (5-13, 3-5 MIAA) defense held the Scots (2-16, 1-7 MIAA) to a lowly 28.6 percent shooting (16-of-56). They also blocked six shots.
Freshman Andy Sierminski (Jackson/Lumen Christi) led the way for Olivet with 14 points and six rebounds. Junior Brandon Way (Detroit/Southwestern) and freshman Bryan Dutton (Napoleon) were also key contributors with 10 and nine points, respectively. Way also had a game-high four steals.
Issac Smith was the only Alma player to break into double digits with 16 points to go along with 11 rebounds. Two other Scots had nine points a piece.
The Comets will be back in action next Wednesday, Jan. 31, as they take on Hope College at the Upton Center. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
