Men's Basketball Team Falls to Calvin, 75-62, in the First-Round of the 2003 MIAA Tournament
The Olivet College men's basketball team ended its season tonight with a 75-62 loss against Calvin College in the first-round of the 2003 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Olivet College men's basketball team ended its season tonight with a 75-62 loss against Calvin College in the first-round of the 2003 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Tournament.
In the first half, the Fighting Comets (11-15) fell behind 21-8 with 11:21 left. Olivet then rebounded with a 14-2 run to cut the deficit to one point at the 5:30 mark. Olivet also trailed by a point, 32-31, at halftime. In the second half, the Comets managed to only get within two points with 15:45 remaining.
The Fighting Comets were led by freshman forward De'Andre Pruitt (River Rouge High School) with 16 points, including four-of-nine from three-point range. He also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. Junior guard Matt Brawley (Niles High School) and freshman forward Steve Johnson (Detroit/ Murray Wright High School) also scored in double figures with 12 points a piece.
Jeremy Veenstra paced the Knights (16-10) with a game-high 17 points. Mike Natelborg added 13 points. Kevin Broene grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.
