Men’s Basketball Team Falls to Calvin College, 111-89

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Olivet College men's basketball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association foe Calvin College, 111-89, tonight at the Calvin Fieldhouse.
Olivet (10-10, 2-5 MIAA) trailed 21-10 with 12:45 left in the first half. Freshman forward De'Andre Pruitt (River Rouge High School) made four consecutive three-pointers and senior forward Terrance Stewart (Muskegon Heights High School) made two free throws to give the Fighting Comets a 24-23 lead at the 9:29 mark. The Knights rebounded and led by as many as 15 points with one minute left in the half. In the second half, Calvin extended its lead to 27 points when Jeremy Veenstra made a free throw to complete a three-point play.
Pruitt led the Comets with 21 points on seven-of-13 shooting from the floor, including six-of-10 from three-point range. Senior forward Michael Dyson (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix High School) added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Sophomore Ronnie Pearson (Holly High School) and freshman forward Steve Johnson (Detroit/Murray Wright High School) each chipped in with 10 points.
The Knights (12-8, 5-3) placed six players in double figures led by Chris Prins with 18 points. Mike Natelborg contributed 16 and four players had 10 points apiece.
Olivet continues MIAA play on Saturday, Feb. 8 when it travels to play Adrian College at 3 p.m.
