Olivet loses to Albion, 49-14

ALBION, Mich. – The University of Olivet football team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 49-14, today at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Britons scored a 13-yard rushing touchdown on their first drive of the game.
- Freshman Jaylan Johnson returned the ensuing kickoff 88 yards down to the Albion 8-yard line. After losing three yards on first down, the Comets used trickery when junior running back Dontal Wright threw an 11-yard pass to senior tight end Garrett Shumaker.
- Albion scored a touchdown late in the first quarter and another one at the start of the second quarter to take a 21-7 lead.
- Olivet closed the gap to seven points at halftime after Wright capped a 13-play drive with a two-yard rush into the end zone. Senior Tristan McElhinney's PAT kick made the score 21-14.
- The Britons put 28 unanswered points on the scoreboard in the second half – 21 in the third quarter on three passing touchdowns covering 28, 30 and 37 yards by Luke Lovell and seven in the fourth quarter on an 11-yard passing touchdown by Zander Desentz. Four different receivers caught a touchdown pass.

- Olivet ran 70 plays for 264 yards compared to 60 plays and 514 yards for Albion.
- Wright topped the rushing attack with 21 carries for 113 yards.
- Junior quarterback Charlie Grant threw for 88 yards on 8-of-19 passing.
- Senior SirQuarius Ball caught three passes for 39 yards.
- Senior Isaac Rowe led the defense with seven total tackles.
- Junior Dominico Tejeda was next with six tackles.
