The University of Olivet lands six football players on CSC Academic All-District® team
OLIVET, Mich. – Six student-athletes from The University of Olivet football team have landed a spot on the 2023 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Team, the organization announced today. The honorees are SirQuarius Ball, Andrew Elenga, Mitchell Pfeifer, Isaac Rowe, Eric Smith and Dominico Tejeda.
To be eligible to earn Academic All-District® honors, a student-athlete must have a 3.50 or higher cumulative grade point average and have significant athletic credentials. The student-athlete must have also competed in 90 percent of their school's games OR have started at least 66 percent of its games. In addition, nomination limits per institution are in place for each sport in which CSC sponsors an Academic All-District® team. For football, each school can nominate up to six student-athletes.
Ball started all 10 games at wide receiver. He caught a team-leading 38 passes for 631 yards and five touchdowns. Ball earned 2023 All-MIAA Second Team honors and received the MIAA Peter Schmidt Scholar Athlete of the Year award.
Elenga, a 2023 All-MIAA Second Team selection, and Pfeifer were a part of the Comet offensive line. They helped Olivet average 398.6 yards per game.
Rowe was part of the linebacking corp. He totaled 47 tackles, including three for minus 12 yards. Smith saw action at tight end and also served as the long snapper on special teams. Tejeda played in all 10 games on the defensive line. He finished the season with 49 tackles, with three quarterback sacks.
