Football: Olivet falls to Albion, 35-7

OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet football team was defeated by Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association rival Albion College, 35-7, this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- Records: Olivet 3-6 overall, 1-4 MIAA; Albion 7-2 overall, 3-2 MIAA
- The Britons won the coin toss and elected to receive the ball. Albion needed just four plays to score the first touchdown, an 8-yard pass from Luke Lovell to Devin Fridley-Bell.
- Albion extended its lead to 14-0 with 1:57 left in the opening quarter on a 65-yard touchdown reception by Dilon Denison.
- Olivet got on the scoreboard early in the second stanza when freshman Dianta Huffman returned an interception 23 yards for a touchdown. Freshman Wesley Franco's PAT kick was good.
- The Britons scored the final touchdown of the first half when Aiden Adams hauled in a 32-yard pass with 1:04 left until the break. The PAT kick was missed, and Albion led 20-7.
- There was no scoring in the third period, as Olivet turned the ball over on downs twice and Albion punted the ball on its only drive.
- On a drive spanning the end of the third and start of the fourth quarter, the Britons punched the ball into the end zone on a 6-yard touchdown run by Tayshaun Nichols.
- The Comets were stopped on fourth down on their ensuing drive at their own 41.
- Albion needed nine plays to score a touchdown, a 7-yard pass from Lovell to Trevor Smith. The two-point conversion run was good to create the final 35-7 score.
- Olivet was held to a season-low 197 yards of offense – 69 on the ground and 128 through the air.
- Sophomore Samuel Kunnuji had 10 carries for 37 yards.
- Junior Evan Ormsby was 19-of-38 passing.
- Freshman Christopher White caught five passes for 49 yards.
- Freshman Fulton Reed posted a 36.8 average on four points. He also drew two roughing the kicker penalties on the Britons.
- Freshman James Banks led the defense with 11 tackles.
- Sophomore Dominico Tejeda finished with 10 tackles.
- Olivet hosts Adrian College for its season-finale next Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1 p.m. Prior to the game, the Comets will recognize the seniors playing in the final collegiate game.
