Football: Olivet drops 28-14 game at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. – The University of Olivet football team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Trine (Ind.) University, 28-14, today at Shive Field.

- The Thunder struck first when Rashawn Street returned the opening kickoff 81 yards for a touchdown.
- Olivet quickly responded when sophomore Samuel Kunnuji rumbled 23 yards into the end zone. Freshman Wesley Franco made the PAT kick to knot the score at 7-7 with 13:28 left in the first quarter.
- Trine scored 21 straight points – 14 in the second quarter and seven in the third quarter – to take a 28-7 lead at the start of the fourth quarter.
- The Comets put together a 14-play, 75-yard drive to cut their deficit down to 14 points with 10:24 remaining in the game. Sophomore Thomas Foust ended the drive with a one-yard touchdown run and freshman Christian Legal converted the PAT kick.
- On a rainy day, Olivet totaled 272 yards of offense, including 219 on the ground.
- Sophomore Dontal Wright had 18 carries for 97 yards.
- Kunnuji ran the ball 15 times for 95 yards.
- Foust completed 6-of-28 passes for 59 yards.
- Freshman Kevin Lebron-Hill caught two passes for a team-best 33 yards.
- Senior James Richardson led the defense with 13 tackles.
- Senior Dennis Simmons tallied 10 tackles.
- Olivet celebrates Homecoming next Saturday, October 21, when Hope College visits the Cutler Athletic Complex. Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
