Football team defeated by Albion, 35-24

ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College football team dropped a 35-24 decision to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College today at Sprankle-Sprandel Stadium.

- After forcing the Britons to a three-and-out on their opening possession, sophomore Evan Ormsby tossed an 85-yard touchdown pass to senior Jalen Broussard on the Comets' first offensive play of the game. Senior Samuel Roose's PAT kick split the uprights.
- Olivet extended its lead to 10-0 at the 8:02 mark of the opening quarter when Roose booted a 44-yard field goal.
- On a driving spanning the end of the first quarter and start of the second quarter, the Comets went ahead 17-0. Senior Nyassinu Crowell, Jr. capped the drive with a seven-yard touchdown run, and Roose made the PAT kick.
- Albion got on the scoreboard late in the second stanza on a nine-yard touchdown run by Phillip Jones-Price.
- The score stayed 17-7 at halftime.
- The Britons scored the next 28 points – 21 in the third quarter and seven in the fourth quarter – to go up 35-17.
- The Comets scored the final touchdown of the game. Ormsby threw a five-yard touchdown pass to sophomore Cole Shoobridge for the score with 24 seconds left in the game.
- Olivet finished the game with more yards of offense than Albion, 454 to 388.
- Crowell, Jr. led the ground game with 23 carries for 103 yards.
- Ormsby completed 22-of-40 passes for 283 yards.
- Broussard caught seven passes for 176 yards. His 85-yard reception ties for the fourth-longest pass play in school history. Broussard has 805 receiving yards this season, which currently ranks fourth for a season.
- Senior Logan Fee recorded a team-leading eight tackles, including a quarterback sack.
- Junior Spencer Tyler was next with seven tackles, with six solo stops.
- Roberts had 10 carries for 52 yards.
- Lovell was 17-of-24 for 243 yards and four touchdowns.
- Mark Tocco hauled in six passes for 66 yards.
- Jua'Rae Robinson caught two touchdowns for 34 total yards.
- Jeremiah Major led the defense with 12 total tackles.
- Olivet closes out the 2022 season next Saturday, November 12, when it travels to play Adrian College. Kick-off at Docking Stadium is 1 p.m.
