Football team loses heartbreaker to Adrian, 28-27
ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College football team let a halftime lead slip away, as Adrian College rallied to beat the Comets, 28-27, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest this afternoon on Kapnick Field at Docking Stadium.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College football team let a halftime lead slip away, as Adrian College rallied to beat the Comets, 28-27, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest this afternoon on Kapnick Field at Docking Stadium.

- The Comets took a 7-0 lead at the 11:32 mark of the opening quarter when senior Kaleb Jarrett threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to freshman Akeem Benjamin.
- After the Olivet defense forced a three-and-out, the Comets put together a 7-play, 51-yard scoring drive, capped by 27-yard touchdown run by Nyassinu Crowell, Jr.
- The Bulldogs made the score 14-3 at the 11:44 of the second quarter after Cooper West made a 22-yard field goal.
- Olivet answered on its ensuing drive with an 18-yard touchdown pass from Jarrett to freshman SirQuarius Ball.
- Adrian made the score 21-10 at halftime when quarterback Jack Wurzer snuck into the end zone on a fourth and goal play from the one-yard line.
- West nailed a 26-yard field goal with 4:50 left in the third quarter to make the score 21-13.
- The Bulldogs tied the game on the first play of the fourth quarter. Wurzer tossed a 34-yard touchdown pass to Henry Wilson, and the same connection converted the two-point conversion.
- The Comets turned the ball over on downs with 7:59 left in the game.
- Adrian marched down the field for the go-ahead touchdown on a one-yard run by Wurzer at the 3:02 mark.
- Olivet needed just 62 seconds to score a touchdown when Ball hauled in a 10-yard pass from Jarrett for the touchdown. The first PAT kick was good, but the Comets were called for a false start. The second PAT kick attempt was missed.
- The Comet defense got the ball back to the offense with 47 seconds left. The Comets managed two first downs before the clock expired.
- Olivet totaled 446 yards of offense.
- Jarrett was 22-of-38 passing for 293 yards and three touchdowns.
- Ball caught five passes for 122 yards.
- Junior Jake Trujillo led the ground game with 17 rushes for 74 yards.
- Sophomore David Curl topped the defense with 13 tackles.
- Senior Kolby Williams recorded 12 tackles.
- Senior Ta'Mar Heart-Wilkins tallied eight tackles, with 2.5 for minus seven yards.
- Adrian had 327 yards of offense.
- Wurzer completed 17-of-37 passes for 252 yards.
- Wilson was his favorite receiver, as he caught seven passes for 127 yards.
- Malik Ray had 30 carries for 87 yards.
- Kyle Minder registered 10 tackles.
- Olivet is scheduled to play at Alma College next Saturday, April 10. Kick-off at Bahlke Field is 1 p.m.
