Anderson named to D3football.com Preseason All-American Second Team
Olivet College standout punter Ryan Anderson has been named to the D3football.com Preseason All-American Second Team.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College standout punter Ryan Anderson has been named to the D3football.com Preseason All-American Second Team.
In his first season as the Comets' punter in 2015, Anderson averaged 41.8 yards per punt. His punts helped Olivet rank second nationally in net punting average at 37.89 yards. Opponents were only able to return four of his 32 punts for 23 total yards. None of Anderson's punts were blocked, five went for more than 50 yards and nine were downed inside the opponent's 20-yard line. His longest punt of the season was 69 yards.
Anderson earned first-team All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association and D3football.com All-North Region honors. As well, he was named to the American Football Coaches Association All-American and the Associated Press Little All-America teams.
Anderson and the Comets open the 2016 season Saturday, Sept. 3, with a 1 p.m. game at St. John Fisher (N.Y.) College. Olivet's home-opener is a week later, Sept. 10, against Elmhurst (Ill.) College at 1 p.m.
