Olivet College’s Pabst named to CoSIDA Academic All-America® team
Olivet College senior defensive lineman Andrew Pabst has been named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® NCAA Division III Football second-team.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior defensive lineman Andrew Pabst has been named to the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-America® NCAA Division III Football second-team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Pabst, who carries a 3.98 grade point average in criminal justice, started every game for the Comets on the defensive line, helping them share the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) title with a 9-1 overall record, including a 5-1 mark against league opponents. A second-team All-MIAA selection, he finished the season with 27 total tackles (12 solo and 15 assisted) to go along with two blocked kicks.
Pabst earns the 26th Academic All-America® award in Olivet history. He is the third football player in school history to earn the honor. The other two are Marc Miller (second-team in 2007) and Travis Sleight (second-team in 2004 and first-team in 2005).
To be eligible for Academic All-America® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. Since the program's inception in 1952, CoSIDA has bestowed Academic All-America® honors on more than 19,000 student-athletes in Divisions I, II, III and NAIA, covering all NCAA championship sports.
