Faasen named to All-MIAA Football first-team

Olivet College sophomore running back Mick Faasen (Belding High School) has been named to the All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Football first-team. Freshman running back Kemp Luchie (Grand Rapids/Forest Hills Northern High School) and freshman offensive lineman Josh Van Laan (Caledonia/ South Christian High School) were selected to the second-team.

The Olivet College football team fell to defending Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Alma College, 35-14, today before 3,526 fans at Bahlke Field in Alma.

Football team loses a heartbreaker to Albion, 20-19

A 39-yard field goal attempt by Olivet College was blocked with 7.9 seconds remaining and Albion College escaped Olivet’s Griswold Field with a 20-19 victory. It was the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association opener for both schools.

Football team shuts-out Manchester, 56-0

The Olivet College football team shut-out its second straight opponent today with a 56-0 victory at Manchester (Ind.) College at the Carl W. Burt Memorial Stadium. The Fighting Comets outgained the Spartans, 514-189 in total offense with six different players scoring a rushing touchdown.

Olivet College sophomore fullback Mick Faasen (Belding High School) has been named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Offensive Player of the Week. Sophomore punter Dustin Thomas (Port Huron High School) has been selected as the MIAA Special Teams Player of the Week.

Fighting Comets defeat Ohio Wesleyan, 21-0

In a battle of Wing-T offenses, the Olivet College football team prevailed with a 21-0 victory today at non-conference foe Ohio Wesleyan University. The Fighting Comets (2-0) carried the ball 63 times for 329 yards, and outgained the Battling Bishops, 351-280 in total offense.

Football team whips Defiance (Ohio), 44-12

The Olivet College football team used its Wing-T offense to perfection today and defeated Defiance (Ohio) College, 44-12, in its home opener at Griswold Field. In the game, Olivet had a single-game school record 89 rushing attempts for 562 yards, and outgained the Yellow Jackets, 588-252 in total offense.
