OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet baseball team lost both games of a doubleheader, 8-0 and 11-3, against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College on a cold and blustery afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.
THE BASICS

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Britons scored two runs in the first inning before sending 10 batters to the plate and pushing across six runs in the third inning.
- For the game, Olivet had only four hits. Junior Tyler Duncan reached base safely in his three plate appearances, with a single, walk and fielder's choice. The other hits were singles by junior Nate Droste, senior Mason Cook and junior Nick Stokan. On the mound, freshman Carter Peterson was the losing pitcher. He gave up the eight runs on five hits and four walks over two and one-third innings. Freshman Teegan Glennon allowed one hit, while striking out five in three and two-thirds inning of relief.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Albion plated three runs in the third inning, two in the fourth, three in the fifth, one in the seventh and two in the ninth for an 11-0 lead. Olivet left multiple runners stranded on base early in the game. The Comets scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth. Sophomore Jack Friesen drove in the first run, followed by a two-run single by sophomore Austin Alflen.
- Olivet had eight hits but were hampered by eight errors. Junior Isaac Moore was 2-for-4 with two singles. Cook had the lone extra-base hit, a double in the third. He also walked three times. The other hits were singles by junior Nate Droste, Friesen, Alflen and senior Ethan VanLannen. Sophomore Logan Lewis suffered the pitching loss after surrendering five runs (three earned) on eight hits over the first four innings. Freshman Kasey Settles gave up three runs (two earned) on two hits in an inning of relief. Senior Wyatt Leland threw the final four innings, allowing three unearned runs on two hits.

- Olivet plays Hope College for its next MIAA series. The first game is on Friday at the Cutler Athletic Complex, starting at 4 p.m. The series ends Saturday with a doubleheader at Boeve Field in Holland, beginning at 1 p.m.
