OLIVET, Mich. – The University of Olivet baseball team split a doubleheader against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Adrian College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex. Junior Nate Droste threw a complete game, seven-hitter to help the Comets win the first game, 2-0. The Bulldogs won the nightcap, 15-2.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- In the sixth inning, the Comets used a two-out rally to score the only two runs they needed. Senior Mikey Kuzara hit a single and then Droste walked. Junior Isaac Moore lined a single to score Kuzara, followed by junior Tyler Hall hitting a single to plate Droste. The Bulldogs put two runners on base in the ninth inning. Droste got out of the jam with a ground out back to him on the mound.
- For the game, Olivet recorded 10 hits, with seven of the starters having at least one hit. Sophomore Austin Alflen went 2-for-3, with two singles. Droste threw 112 pitches in the win. He struck out three and walked one.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- Adrian scored two runs in the first, three runs in the second and three runs in the fourth to take an 8-0 lead. Olivet got on the scoreboard in the home half of the fourth when Alflen hit a home run. The seventh inning was like the fourth, with the Bulldogs scoring three runs and the Comets plating one on an RBI-single by freshman Hogan McCleary. Adrian pushed across four runs in the eighth to end the game early due to the 10-run mercy rule.
- For the game, the Comets tallied six hits. Alflen and sophomore Jack Friesen each had two hits. Sophomore Logan Lewis was tagged with the pitching loss after allowing eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits over the first three and one-third innings.
UP NEXT
- The Comets host Albion College on Tuesday for a doubleheader, starting at 2 p.m. The first game is a rescheduled one from last Wednesday, so it will be seven innings and the Britons will be the home team and bat second. The second game is the schedule game and will be nine innings.
