XENIA, Ohio – The University of Olivet baseball team suffered a pair of losses in a non-conference doubleheader against Wilmington (Ohio) College this afternoon at the Athletes in Action Complex. In the opener, the Comets fell by a 9-4 score. In the second game, Olivet rallied to take a 7-6 lead until the Quakers scored five runs in the eighth inning to win, 11-7.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Quakers jumped out to a 9-0 lead, scoring one run in both the first and fourth innings, two runs in the fifth and five runs in the sixth inning. The Comets pushed across four runs in the top of seventh.
- Olivet finished the game with six hits. The lone extra base hit was an RBI-double by senior Brendan Monroe. Junior Nate Droste suffered the pitching loss, yielding four runs (three earned) on nine hits over the first five innings. Senior Wyatt Leland gave up five runs (three earned) on three hits over an inning.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Comets plated a run in the top of the first inning. Wilmington answered with three runs in the home half of the first. Olivet got one run back in the third inning. The Quakers responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 6-2. There was no more scoring until the seventh inning when Olivet scored four runs to even the score.
- The leadoff batter in the bottom of the seventh hit a deep fly ball to leftfield but Monroe caught the ball right at the fence. In the eighth inning, senior Blake Hawkins hit a solo home run to put the Comets ahead 7-6. Wilmington recorded only two hits but scored five runs in the last half of the eighth to take an 11-7 lead.
- For the game, Olivet tallied 10 hits. Sophomores Austin Alflen and Jack Friesen each had two hits. Friesen also walked twice to reach base safely four times and scored three runs from the leadoff spot in the lineup. Sophomore Logan Lewis was charged with the pitching loss in relief of freshman lefty Jacob Wadsworth.

- The Comets are off until their first spring break game on Tuesday, March 11, against Rhode Island College. The game will be played at Myrtle Beach High School and the first pitch is at 11 a.m.
