RICHMOND, Ind. – The University of Olivet baseball team was swept in a non-conference doubleheader against Earlham (Ind.) College, 11-6 and 17-5, on a chilly afternoon at Randal R. Sadler Stadium.
THE BASICS

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Comets took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when two runs scored on a throwing error by the Quaker third baseman. Earlham got one run back in the second inning. Olivet stretched its lead to 4-1 in the third inning when sophomore Jack Friesen and senior Mason Cook hit back-to-back RBI-triples.
- The Quakers took a 5-4 lead with a four-run fourth inning. The final two runs were the result of a two-run home run. The Comets used a two-out rally to tie the game in the fifth inning. Junior Tyler Duncan was hit by a pitch, stole second and came around to score on Friesen's single up the middle.
- Earlham plated five runs in the home half of the fifth to take a 10-5 lead. The Quakers capped their scoring with a single tally in the sixth inning. Olivet scored its final run in the seventh frame on Friesen's RBI-single.
- At the plate, the Comets recorded nine hits. Friesen was 3-for-4 with two RBI. Cook and junior Tyler Duncan each had two hits. Junior Nate Droste was tagged with the pitching loss. He allowed 10 runs on nine hits over the first four and two-thirds inning.
GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS
- The Quakers tallied two runs in the bottom half of the first inning. Olivet immediately answered with a run in the top of second inning. Friesen hit a single and hustled around to score on sophomore EJ Suggitt's double. The Comets took a 5-2 lead when they pushed across four runs in the third inning. The big hit of the frame was a three-run homer by Cook. Earlham scored 15 unanswered runs – four in the third, four in the fourth, one in the fifth and six in sixth – to invoke the mercy rule ending after seven innings.
- At the plate, Olivet had 11 hits. Friesen had three more hits in four at-bats. Duncan added two hits, including a double. Four pitchers combined to give up the 17 runs on 15 hits. Freshman Carter Peterson was saddled with the loss, surrendering the first six runs over two and one-third innings.

- Olivet will travel to play Wilmington (Ohio) College this weekend for a non-conference doubleheader.
