Baseball: Olivet shutout at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. – The University of Olivet baseball team suffered an 11-0 shutout loss to Hope College in the final game of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) series this afternoon at Boeve Field.
- Final Score: Hope 11, Olivet 0 (7)
- Location: Boeve Field; Holland, Michigan
- Records: Olivet 7-21 overall, 1-9 MIAA; Hope 15-12 overall, 9-2 MIAA
- Hope scored the only run it needed in the second inning on a leadoff home run by Brenden Collins.
- The Flying Dutchmen added four runs in the third, one run in the fifth and five runs in the seventh to post the lopsided 11-0 win.
- Olivet had just five hits.
- The only extra base hit was a double by sophomore Braden Abbott.
- The rest of the hits were a single each for seniors Matthew Fennell and Gabriel Kirck, sophomore Owen Smith and freshman Brody Lehman.
- Sophomore Bryan Carney was credited with the pitching loss. He gave up six runs on seven hits and three walks over five innings, while striking out six.
- Olivet welcomes Albion College to the Cutler Athletic Complex tomorrow for the rubber match of the three-game series, starting at 4 p.m. Both teams won a game of the series on their respective home field.
