RICHMOND, Ind. – The University of Olivet baseball team lost both ends of a non-conference doubleheader against Earlham (Ind.) College, 7-4 and 14-14, this afternoon at Randal R. Sadler Stadium.
- Final Scores: Earlham 7, Olivet 4; Earlham 14, Olivet 4 (7)

- Records: Olivet 1-2 overall, Earlham 2-1 overall
- After the Quakers plated two runs in the bottom of the first inning, the Comets evened the score with single tallies in the second and third innings.
- Earlham grabbed a 3-2 lead with a run in the fourth before pushing across four runs in the seventh to stretch its lead to 7-2.
- Olivet took advantage of two Quaker errors to score two runs in the eighth inning. The Comets were retired 1-2-3 in the ninth inning.
- For the game, Olivet recorded 11 hits compared to eight for Earlham.
- Senior Matthew Fennell, senior Gabriel Kirck and sophomore Will Myrick each had two hits.
- Freshman Austin Alflen reached base safely in each of his plate appearances.
- Sophomore Charlie Quilliam suffered the pitching loss. He gave up three runs on four hits over the first four innings.
- The Comets jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning. Alflen led off the game with a triple to left-center gap. He came around to score on a batted ball by sophomore Owen Smith was misplayed by the third baseman. Kirck hit a two-run homer deep over the fence in right field.
- The Quakers exploded for nine runs in the bottom of the third inning. Earlham added one run in the fourth, two runs in the fifth and two runs in the sixth to take a 14-3 lead.
- Olivet added a run in the seventh, but it was not enough, as the game ended early due to the 10-run rule.
- The Comets had eight hits in the game.
- Alflen recorded two hits, including a triple.
- Also finishing with two hits each were freshman Brody Lehman and junior Brendan Monroe.
- On the mound, senior Keegan Kuha was tagged with the loss after surrendering seven runs on five hits and three walks over the first two and two-third innings.
- The Comets head to Rantoul, Illinois, for three neutral site games next weekend. On Saturday, Olivet plays Elmhurst (Ill.) University at 12 p.m. ET, followed by a game against Lawrence (Wis.) University. On Sunday, the Comets battle Wisconsin Lutheran College at 12 p.m. ET. The games are at the Rantoul Family Sports Complex. Saturday's first contest and Sunday's game is on field two, while Saturday's second game is at field one.
