Baseball team loses to Kalamazoo, 14-2
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team came up on the losing end of a 14-2 final to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team came up on the losing end of a 14-2 final to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Kalamazoo College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- Records: Olivet 3-29 overall, 1-17 MIAA; Kalamazoo 28-7 overall, 16-2 MIAA
- The Hornets took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run in the first inning. Kalamazoo added to its lead with a two-run single in the second. The Hornets then broke the game open with a grand slam home run in the second and third innings. Kalamazoo ended its scoring with another run in the third before pushing across single runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
- The Comets scored their two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings on groundouts.
- For the game, Olivet tallied eight hits.
- Junior Gabriel Kirck went 2-for-3 and was intentionally walked once. He drove in the seventh-inning run.
- Five other players each had one hit.
- Senior Daniel Ballagh collected one RBI.
- Junior Andrew Vendzuh was the losing pitcher.
- Kalamazoo totaled 11 hits.
- Leo Schinker had two hits and recorded six RBI.
- Ryar Rinehart was 2-for-4 with five RBI.
- Harrison Poeszat finished with two hits, two runs and two RBI.

- Olivet wraps-up its season next weekend with a three-game series against Alma College. The first two games are Saturday at the Cutler Athletic Complex, and the final game is Sunday at Klenk Park in Alma. Action both days gets started at 1 p.m.
