Baseball team drops 5-1 game to Adrian

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team was on the losing end of a 5-1 final to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) foe Adrian College this afternoon at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- The Bulldogs scored their first run in the first inning on an RBI-groundout.
- Adrian looked to add more runs in the second, third and fourth innings but the Comets got of all three innings by turning double plays.
- Junior Gabriel Kirck broke up the pitcher's perfect game with a solo home run to lead off the fifth inning.
- The Bulldogs used a two-out hit to push across the go-ahead run in the seventh inning.
- Adrian added three insurance runs in the eighth inning.
- Olivet was held to just three hits, including two by Kirck.
- Freshman Bryan Carney was the losing pitcher, as he gave up the first two runs on four hits and five walks over six and two-thirds innings.
- Freshman Jacob Jasin allowed the eighth-inning runs.
- Sophomore Josh Lucier threw a scoreless inning.
- Adrian totaled six hits.
- Eaton Rogers and Logan Loeffler were both 2-for-4.
- AJ Miranda drove in a pair of runs.
- Jakob Charles scored two runs.
- Daniel Gutierrez earned the pitching win. He pitched eight innings, scattering the three hits and striking out seven.
- Olivet and Adrian play a doubleheader tomorrow at Nicolay Field in Adrian, with first pitch from game one slated for 1 p.m.
