HOLLAND, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team was defeated by Hope College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) twinbill, 26-5 and 11-0, this afternoon at Boeve Stadium.

- Records: Olivet 3-22 overall, 1-10 MIAA; Hope 14-13 overall, 7-4 MIAA
- Olivet took a 3-0 lead in the top of first inning. Freshman Braden Abbott led off the game with a double and came around to score on senior Sylas Woll's home run. Later in the inning, freshman Tyler Geckler hit an RBI-single to score freshman Isaac Moore.
- The Flying Dutchmen took a 4-3 lead with four runs in their half of the first.
- The Comets regained the lead with two unearned runs in the top of second.
- From there, Hope scored 17 unanswered runs – seven in the second inning, five in the third and five in the sixth – to post the run-rule victory.
- The Flying Dutchmen finished the game with 11 hits but took advantage of eight walks and nine hit batters to win the game.
- Olivet tallied seven hits. Geckler, Woll and sophomore Mason Cook each recorded two hits. Senior Ryan Upton was the losing pitcher.
- Hope scored at least one run in each of the first five innings – three in the first, two in the second, one in the third and fourth, and four in the first – to earn the shutout win.
- Woll and junior Blake Hawkins had the Comets' lone hits. Freshman JB Stroh suffered the pitching loss after yielding the first six runs on three hits and four walks in three hits. Sophomore Josh Lucier threw one and two-thirds innings of scoreless relief.
- Olivet concludes its three-game series against Albion College next Tuesday, April 18, at Champions Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
