Baseball team loses 7-2 at Albion
ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team fell to Albion College, 7-2, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest today at the Champions Field.

ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team fell to Albion College, 7-2, in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contest today at the Champions Field.

- Records: Olivet 2-15 overall, 0-3 MIAA; Albion 4-14 overall, 1-1 MIAA
- The Comets scored a run in the top of first inning. Sophomore Ben Helgevold reached on an error to leadoff the game. He stole second base, went to third base on a groundout and came around to score on junior Gabriel Kirck's groundout.
- The Britons sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs in the third inning.
- Olivet got one run back in the fourth when Helgevold hit an RBI-double to score freshman Nate Droste.
- Albion capped its scoring with single runs in the sixth and eighth innings.
- Olivet had five hits.
- Extra base hits were doubles by Helgevold and Kirck.
- Kirck's double extended his hit streak to 16 games, which is tied for the fifth-longest in school history. The program record is 20 games, followed by three players with 18-game streaks.
- Senior Ryan Upton suffered the pitching loss, as he surrendered the first five runs on six hits over three innings.
- From the leadoff spot in the lineup, Ryker Mazey went 2-for-4 with three RI.
- Austyn Stephens also had two hits and collected two RBI.
- Carson Dunn and Patrick Merolla each scored two runs.
- Brayden Raether picked-up the pitching win. He tossed seven innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on five hits. He struck out 10 batters.
- Ray Keane threw two innings of scoreless relief.
- Olivet plays Calvin for a three-game MIAA series. The first game of the series is Friday at Calvin, with first pitch slated for 4 p.m. A doubleheader will then be played Saturday at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet, beginning at 1 p.m.
