Baseball team defeats Muskingum, 8-6, for first win of season

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Olivet College baseball team defeated Muskingum (Ohio), 8-6, this afternoon at the Mose Morehead Stadium.
- Final Score: Olivet 8, Muskingum 6
- Location: Mose Morehead Stadium; New Concord, Ohio
- Records: Olivet 1-12 overall, Muskingum 8-3 overall
- Olivet took a 2-0 lead in the second inning when freshman Will Myrick laced a two-run single.
- The Fighting Muskies got run back in their half of the second.
- Both teams scored a run in the fourth and fifth innings to make the score 4-3.
- The Comets went ahead 5-3 in the seventh on back-to-back doubles by senior Sylas Woll and junior Gabriel Kirck.
- Olivet extended its lead to 8-3 with three runs in the eighth inning.
- Muskingum scored two runs and left the bases loaded in its half of the eighth.
- After retiring the Comets 1-2-3 in the top of ninth inning, the Fighting Muskies pushed across one run in the home half of the ninth.
- At the plate, Kirck went 4-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and one run.
- Myrick and freshman Nate Droste each had three hits.
- Freshman Mason Cook hit two doubles and also drove in two runs.
- Droste scored three runs.
- On the mound, freshman Bryan Carney earned the win.
- Ryan Schrwartz was 3-for-5, with a double and two singles.
- Five other players each had one hit.
- Five pitchers made an appearance on the mound. Jake Roshau suffered the loss.
- The Comets are back in action next Wednesday, March 22, when they play a nine-inning game at Ohio Wesleyan University. First pitch is at 4 p.m.
