MILLINGTON, Tenn. – The Olivet College baseball team suffered a pair of loss to University of South (Tenn.) 10-0 and 8-2, today at the March Madness II event and at the USA Baseball Stadium.

- After getting out of a jam in the top of first inning, the Tigers scored 10 unanswered runs – one in the first, three runs in the third, four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth – to force an early ending to the game.
- Olivet was held to two hits, a double by junior Gabriel Kirck and single by sophomore Ben Helgevold.
- On the mound, Alex Rose suffered the loss.
- At the plate, Hunter Herndon and Charlie Teel were each 3-for-3.
- Herndon drove in two runs.
- Herndon and Blake Pou scored two runs apiece.
- On the mound, Henry Collins tossed a complete game, two-hitter. He retired 13 straight batters to end the game, while striking out eight batters.
- Olivet scored two runs in the top of first inning. The Tigers immediately answered with five runs in the bottom half of the inning.
- Sewanee added three insurance runs in the last half of the sixth inning.
- Olivet tallied four hits.
- Freshman Brody Parten was 2-for-3, with a double and run scored.
- The other two hits were singles by freshmen Tyler Heckler and Ray Strzynski.
- Freshman Charlie Quilliam started on the mound and faced three batters. All three runners came around to score, so he was charged with the loss.
- Pou and Luke Short both went 2-for-3.
- Short and Dean Vencil had two RBI apiece.
- Each of the top three batters in the lineup – Pou, Herndon and Teel – scored two runs.
- Ryan Moll went the distance on the mound to pick-up the win. He gave up the two runs on four hits, and struck out seven.
- Olivet returns to Michigan tomorrow and then heads to New Concord, Ohio, for four games at Muskingum (Ohio) University. The Comets play the host Muskies Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. and Sunday afternoon at 3:30 p.m. Between those two games, Olivet faces Penn State University-Behrend (Pa.) twice – Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and Sunday at 12 p.m.
