RICHMOND, Ind. – The Olivet College baseball team fell to Earlham (Ind.) College, 11-9 and 9-3, in a non-conference doubleheader this afternoon at Randal R. Sadler Stadium.
- Final Score: Earlham 11, Olivet 9; Earlham 9, Olivet 3
- Location: Randal R. Sadler Stadium; Richmond, Indiana
- Records: Olivet 0-3 overall, Earlham 3-0 overall
- After the Quakers scored three runs in the bottom of second inning, the Comets plated three runs in top of fourth to even the score. Both teams scored a run in the sixth inning to make the score 4-4.
- Earlham pushed across four runs in the seventh inning before Olivet answered with a five-run eighth to go ahead 9-8. The Quakers tallied three runs in their half of the eighth and shut down the Comets in the ninth to post the 11-9 win.
- Sophomore Mason Cook was a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. He scored two runs and drove in three runs.
- Junior Gabriel Kirck also had three hits to go along with two runs scored and two RBI. One of his hits was a home run.
- Freshman Isaac Moore tallied two hits, including a double.
- Junior Andrew Vendzuh was the losing pitcher.
- Freshman Bryan Carney started on the mound. He threw the first six innings and struck out 10 batters.
- Four players each recorded two hits.
- Mitchell Roether hit two doubles and scored three runs.
- Max Fries collected three RBI and two runs scored.
- Justin Dillhoff was the winning pitcher and Dillon Fischer picked-up the save.
- Olivet scored a run in the top of first inning. The Quakers answered with three runs in the bottom half of the first.
- The Comets got one run back in the second inning. Earlham plated six runs over the next four innings for a 9-2 lead. Senior Sylas Woll hit a solo home run in the ninth inning for the game's final run.
- Olivet totaled 11 hits.
- From the leadoff spot in the lineup, freshman Nate Droste was 3-for-5, with two doubles.
- Woll tallied two hits and scored two runs.
- Freshman JB Stroh was charged with the pitching loss.
- Five players had one hit apiece, including two triples and a home run.
- Sean Jeffries drove in three runs.
- Nick Carrizales earned the pitching win in relief of starter David Lally.
- Olivet plays Elmhurst (Ill.) College next Saturday, March 4, at 6 p.m. The game will be played at the Future Champions Sports Complex in Jacksonville, Illinois.
