Sella named to 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Baseball Team
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Logan Sella has been selected to the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 6 Baseball Team. He is now eligible to earn CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-America® honors, where three teams will be announced in June.
OLIVET, Mich. – Olivet College senior Logan Sella has been selected to the 2022 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District 6 Baseball Team. He is now eligible to earn CoSIDA NCAA Division III Academic All-America® honors, where three teams will be announced in June.
The criteria for nomination includes a 3.30 or higher cumulative grade point average. Baseball position players must have played in at least 50 percent of his team's total games played at the position shown on the nomination form. Pitchers must have thrown at least 10 innings to be nominated.
Sella started 29 of the 35 Olivet games at designated hitter. He finished the season with a .310 batting average (35-of-113), while hitting 12 doubles and two home runs for a .469 slugging percentage. Sella scored 22 runs and drove in 20 runs. He had nine multi-hit games, including seven with two hits. Sella's best game was a 4-for-4, four runs and four RBI performance on March 5 against Principia (Ill.) College.
Sella ended his Comet career ranked ninth all-time in games played (143), at-bats (459), total bases (182) and walks (55). He tied for ninth all-time in base hits (137) and tenth all-time in doubles (25).
Sella is a double major in journalism/mass communication and psychology. He has been named to the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Academic Honor Roll four times and Olivet Dean's List six times.
The Academic All-District teams include student-athletes divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. Olivet is in District 6, which includes schools in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. This is the 10th year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA participants. A new college division featuring Canadian and two-year schools was introduced in 2020.
