Baseball team drops doubleheader against Kalamazoo
OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team came up short in both games of a doubleheader, 12-6 and 9-2, against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Kalamazoo College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team came up short in both games of a doubleheader, 12-6 and 9-2, against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Kalamazoo College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex.

- After the Hornets scored two runs in the top half of the first inning, the Comets answered with two runs in their half of the first to tie the game.
- Kalamazoo added to its lead on a solo home run in the third before sending 10 batters to the plate and scoring five runs in the fourth to make the score 8-2.
- Following the first out getting recorded in the bottom of fifth, there was a 72-minute weather delay.
- Olivet closed the gap to two runs with a pair of runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.
- The Hornets plated four insurance runs in the ninth inning.
- Olivet totaled nine hits.
- Senior Matt Fisher was 3-for-4 with one triple, two singles, two runs and three RBI.
- Senior Matt Hewitt had two hits, including a double.
- Senior Trevor Savage also tallied two hits.
- Senior Brendan Redding was the losing pitcher, as he yielded eight runs (seven earned) on nine hits over the first four innings.

- The Hornets pushed across two runs in the first inning, four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth for an 8-0 lead.
- Sophomore Gabriel Kirck broke up the shutout with a two-run home run in the sixth inning.
- Kalamazoo added its final run in the seventh.
- The umpires called the after eight innings due to darkness.
- Olivet had only four hits.
- Senior Logan Sella reached base safely in two of his plate appearances, as he had an infield hit in the third and a walk in the fifth.

- Senior Hunter Henson suffered the pitching loss. He gave up six runs on seven hits over the first three innings.
- The Hornets tallied 12 hits, with 11 singles and one double.
