Baseball team defeated by Albion, 11-7
ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 11-7, today on Frank Joranko Field at Champions Stadium.

ALBION, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team fell to Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) rival Albion College, 11-7, today on Frank Joranko Field at Champions Stadium.

- The Britons sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs on six hits in the bottom half of the first inning.
- Olivet got one run back in the second when junior Tyler Campbell looped an RBI-single into left field to score senior Matt Fisher.
- The Comets pushed across two runs in the third to close the gap to three runs at 6-3. Driving in runs during the inning were Fisher and junior Sylas Woll.
- In the fifth inning, senior Matt Hewitt reached on an infield single, stole second base, stole third and scored on the catcher's errant throw.
- Albion used back-to-back-to-back doubles to plate two runs in the home half of the fifth. Despite Olivet turning a double play later in the inning, the Britons tacked on another run to extend their lead to 9-4.
- In the seventh, Albion added a run.
- The Comets had a two-out rally in the eighth inning. Fisher had an infield single before Woll hit a 2-0 pitch over the fence in left field for a two-run home run and cut Olivet's deficit to 10-6.
- The Britons answered with their own solo home run in the last half of the eighth to cap their scoring.
- Olivet had the bases loaded in the ninth but only scored one run.
- At the plate, Fisher was 3-for-4 with three singles and two runs scored.
- Sophomore Gabriel Kirck had two hits.
- Woll drove in three runs.
- On the mound, senior Max Daust started and recorded one out, surrendering the first six runs to be charged with the loss.
- Sophomore Alex Rose threw four innings of relief, giving up three runs on five hits.
- The Britons totaled 15 hits.
- Mark Lauro was 3-for-5 with a double, home run, three runs and four RBI.
- Justin Charron also collected three hits.
- Zac Gray, Ryker Mazey and Austyn Stephens each had two hits.
- Ashton Abnet earned the pitching win in relief of starter Andrew Renner.
- The Comets travel to play Calvin University tomorrow for a nine-inning game, starting at 4 p.m. Please note the location change for the game.
