Baseball team defeats Wilmington in an 18-13 slugfest

- The Quakers pushed across one run in the first inning and four more runs in the third to go up 5-0.
- Olivet dented the scoreboard for the first time in the fourth inning when senior John Kortz hit an RBI-single to score senior Logan Sella.
- Wilmington extended its lead 8-1 by virtue of plating three runs in the fifth.
- The Comets answered with a seven-run sixth inning to tie the game. Senior Ben Compton drove in three runs when he lined a bases-loaded triple to the left-center field gap. Sophomore Gabriel Kirck and senior Matt Hewitt both ripped two-run singles later in the inning.
- The Quakers regained the lead in with three runs in their half of the sixth inning.
- Olivet responded by sending 11 batters to the plate and scoring eight runs in the top half of the seventh inning. Five players recorded at least one RBI, with Kortz collecting two on a double to the left-center gap.
- Both teams scored two runs in the eighth inning to keep it a five-run game, 18-13.
- Wilmington put two runners on base in the ninth before the Comets turned a double play to end the game.
- Olivet tallied 19 total hits in the game, with six players posting a multi-hit game.
- Hewitt went 3-for-6 with three RBI and two runs scored.
- Compton was 3-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored.
- Kortz also had three hits to go along with three RBI and two runs scored.
- Freshman Ben Helgevold and senior Trevor Savage each recorded two hits and two runs scored.

- Senior Hunter Henson threw four innings of relief to pick-up the pitching win. He gave up five runs on nine hits.
- Olivet has scored at least 18 runs in each of its last four games.
- The Comets' 19 hits tie for the sixth-most in a game since the 2003 season.
- The 17 RBI are the seventh-most in a game since 2003.
- At the plate, Caleb Scott was 4-for-5 with three RBI and three runs scored.
- Five other players each scored two runs.
- Aaron Burns and Moses Garza notched two hits and three RBI apiece.
- AJ Wolf was charged with the pitching loss in relief of starter Luke Chappie. Wolf surrendered six runs on five hits over an inning. Chappie struck out eight but allowed seven runs on eight hits over five and one-third innings.
