FREELAND, Mich. – Olivet College senior Brendan Redding has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Pitcher of the Week.
In an 18-0 win over Principia (Ill.) College, Redding earned the pitching win. He allowed three hits, while striking out seven batters over the first six innings.
"This recognition is a testament to how hard Brendan works and what he has done to grow as a player since his freshman season," said Olivet head coach Shelby Dixon. "It's nice to see other people recognize that and give him some credit. He's got work to do still to get to where we need him to be, but we are proud of and excited for him."
Olivet travels to Ohio for a three-game series this Saturday and Sunday against Wilmington College. On Saturday, the Comets play a doubleheader against the Quakers, starting at 11 a.m., and on Sunday, they play a single game, beginning at 12 p.m.
