Baseball team loses doubleheader at Trine, 14-0 and 14-2

- The Thunder scored one run in the second inning, seven runs in the third, two runs in the fourth and four runs in the sixth.
- The Comets had one base runner in each of the first six innings but failed to score any runs.
- Olivet totaled five hits, all singles
- Senior Logan Sella was 2-for-3.
- Sophomore Ryan Upton suffered the pitching loss after giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on nine hits over the first three and one-third innings.
- Senior Elijah Huebner tossed the final two and two-thirds, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits.
- The Thunder recorded 13 hits, with 10 singles and three doubles.
- Adam Stefanelli collected three hits in four at-bats, and scored three runs.
- Jake Conley had two hits and drove in three runs.
- On the mound, Adam Wheaton earned the win, as he went the distance. He struck out 10 and walked one.
- Trine pushed across one run in the first inning, two runs in the second and four runs in the third to go up 7-0.
- The Comets plated a run in the fourth inning on an RBI-double by sophomore Tyler Campbell.
- The Thunder answered with an unearned run in their half of the fourth.
- After Olivet scored a run in the top of fifth on a bases-loaded walk to Campbell, Trine added two runs in the home half of the fifth to go up 10-2.
- The Thunder capped their scoring with a four-run sixth inning.
- Olivet had just five hits, three singles and two doubles.
- Hitting the doubles were Campbell and senior Matt Fisher.
- Campbell drove in both runs.
- Five pitchers threw at least one inning.
- Junior Brendan Redding was charged with the loss after giving up five runs on five hits over the first two innings.
- Trine finished the game with 16 hits.
- Conley was 3-for-3 with a double, two singles, three runs and two RBI.
- A.J. Mitchell collected three RBI.
- Four pitchers made an appearance on the mound. Starter Drew Bradford threw four innings and allowed two runs on four hits. Three relievers each tossed a scoreless inning.
"Today was a disappointing day at the ballpark and end to the series," said Olivet head baseball coach Shelby Dixon. "We didn't capitalize on the momentum of two wins yesterday and didn't gives ourselves a chance. Building these guys up takes time and we need to learn how to stack multiple good days on top of each other. We will get there, we just need to stay the course and trust the work we are doing."
