The Olivet College baseball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Calvin College, 11-3 and 13-7, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

OLIVET, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Calvin College, 11-3 and 13-7, today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
- The Knights sent 11 batters to the plate and scored six runs in the top half of the first inning.
- The Comets used a three-run third inning to cut their deficit in half.
- Calvin plated five runs in the sixth inning to create the final score.
FOR THE COMETS
- Senior Aiden Holliday had two of the six Olivet hits.
- Freshman Ben Compton and sophomore Aaron Gillespie each drove in a run.
- Seven pitchers threw in the game. Freshman Ryan Rivard started and lasted only one-third of an inning to be charged with the loss after allowing four runs on one hit, two hit batters and a walk.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- All nine starters had at least one hit.
- Beau Redfield recorded two hits, including a double, and three RBI.
- Jonathan Keane went the distance on the mound to pick-up the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO)
- Olivet manufactured a run in the home half of the first inning. Compton hit a lead-off single, advanced to second on a ground out, went to third on a wild pitch and crossed the plate on Gillespie's sacrifice fly.
- Calvin pushed across five runs in the fourth and six runs in the fifth to take a commanding 11-1 lead.
- The Comets got two runs back in their half of the fifth inning.
- The Knight immediately answered by scoring two runs in the top half of the sixth.
- Olivet ended the game with three runs in the seventh and one run in the eighth.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet notched 13 total hits, but only one went for extra bases.
- Junior Jake Robinson was 3-for-4 with three RBI.
- Sophomore Brandan Settles also went 3-for-4 and scored three runs.
- Senior Colton Dawdy recorded a pair of singles.
- Senior Zach Oshinsky was tagged with the loss. He gave up six runs on six hits over four and one-third innings.
- Senior Joseph Crosby threw three scoreless innings of relief.
FOR THE KNIGHTS
- Calvin pounded out 20 total hits.
- Ricky Padilla collected four hits in six at-bats.
- Quinn Hyndiuk and Jeremy Clark tallied three hits apiece.
- Ryan Pena drove in a team-best three runs.
- On the mound, Clay Francisco earned the win.
