KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team fell to Kalamazoo College in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) twinbill, 5-2 and 16-3, today at Woodworth Field in Kalamazoo.

HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME ONE)
- The Hornets scored three runs in the bottom half of the third
- The Comets plated their first run in the fifth inning when senior Andrew Dayfield hit a leadoff single, advanced to second on a wild pitch, went to third on a single by junior Connor Murney and crossed the plate on senior Austin Cleaver's sacrifice fly.
- Kalamazoo got that run back and another in the home half of the fifth on a two-run double by Connor Grant.
- Olivet scored its second run in the seventh on an RBI-single by freshman Aaron Gillespie.
FOR THE COMETS
- Olivet notched seven hits in the game.
- Murney went 2-for-3 at the plate.
- Junior Brady Johnson suffered the pitching loss after giving up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits in 4.1 innings.
- Junior Austin Hickey threw 1.2 innings of scoreless relief.
FOR THE HORNETS
- Kalamazoo recorded 11 hits, including two each for Todd Bonnivier, Jack Clark and Ryan Orr.
- On the mound, Jacob Gilhaus earned the win after allowing one run on four hits in 4.2 innings.
- Three relievers threw the final 2.1 innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME TWO)
- A lead off by Mitch VanKoevering ignited a four-run second inning for the Hornets.
- Olivet scored a run in the third on back-to-back doubles by Dayfield and Cleaver.
- Kalamazoo had single tallies in the third, fourth and fifth innings before breaking the game open with five runs in the seventh and four runs in the eighth for a 16-1 lead.
- An infield single followed by throwing error on freshman Dillon Mitchell's batted ball pushed across a pair of runs in the ninth inning for the Comets.
FOR THE COMETS
- At the plate, Olivet had nine hits.
- Dayfield was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double.
- Gillespie also tallied two hits, including a double.
- On the mound, junior Aiden Holliday started on the mound and lasted only two innings to be tagged with the loss. He allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits.
- Seven relievers combined to toss the final seven innings.
FOR THE HORNETS
- Kalamazoo finished the game with 15 hits.
- Clark and Ian Kobernick recorded three hits apiece.
- VanKoevering scored a team-best three runs.
- Zach Prystash collected a team-leading three RBI.
- Nic Janssen picked-up the pitching win after yielding one run on six hits in six innings.
- Three relief pitchers each threw an inning.
