Baseball team ends up on losing side of doubleheader at Adrian
The Olivet College baseball team ended up on the losing side in both games of a doubleheader against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Adrian College tonight at Nicolay Field in Adrian. The Bulldogs won by scores of 5-1 and 3-1.

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Olivet College baseball team ended up on the losing side in both games of a doubleheader against Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) leader Adrian College tonight at Nicolay Field in Adrian. The Bulldogs won by scores of 5-1 and 3-1.
In the opener, Adrian scored a run in the first and second innings and three more runs in the fourth inning to take a 5-0 lead. The Comets scored their only run in the top half of the fifth on an RBI-single by junior Randy Young (Wixom/Walled Lake Western).
For the game, Olivet out-hit Adrian, 8-7. The top six batters in the Comet lineup provided the hits, with sophomores Joel Peters (Auburn Hills/Avondale) and Jonny Zawacki (Alpena) collecting two apiece. Junior Jay Magro (Bridgman) was the losing pitcher. He gave up five runs (three earned) over six innings, while striking out five.
The nightcap was very similar to the first game. The Bulldogs pushed across one run in the first and two more runs in the fourth for a 3-0 lead. The Comets plated their only run in the fifth inning when freshman David Hernandez (Lansing/Eastern) hit an RBI-single.
Olivet finished the game with four hits, all singles. On the mound, senior Sean Alexander (Fenton) suffered the loss. He yielded one earned run on five hits, with five strikeouts in six innings.
The two teams are scheduled to complete their four-game series tomorrow with a doubleheader tomorrow at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. First pitch from game one is 1 p.m.
