Baseball team loses twice to Adrian, 10-1 and 12-3
The Olivet College baseball team lost both games of a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) doubleheader to Adrian College today at the Cutler Athletic Complex in Olivet. The Bulldogs won by scores of 10-1 and 12-3.

In the opener, Adrian scored a pair of runs in the second inning. Olivet got one run back in the third. After drawing a walk, senior Brad Sullens (Belleville) scored on a RBI-single by junior Ben Kosmalski (Canton/Plymouth). The Bulldogs answered with two runs in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. With one out in the sixth, the Comets had the bases loaded, but Adrian turned a double to get out of the jam. The Bulldogs put the game out of reach with a six-run seventh inning.
At the plate, six different Comets each recorded a hit. Sullens reached base safely in his three plate appearances, twice via walks and once on a base hit. On the mound, senior Josh Norlock (Warren/Centerline) was the losing pitcher. He went all seven innings, allowing 10 earned runs on 10 hits.
In the nightcap, Adrian plated five unearned runs in the first inning and added two runs in the second for a 7-0 lead. The Bulldogs pushed across three more unearned runs in the fifth. In the seventh, they scored two runs. The Comets plated three runs in the seventh on a RBI-single by junior Jimmy Keenan (Charlotte) and two-run single by senior Erik McCloud (Holly).
Offensively, Olivet was held to seven hits, including two by McCloud. One of his hits was a double. On the mound, sophomore Aaron Campbell (Lansing/Waverly) was tagged with the loss. He lasted just one and one-third innings, giving up seven runs (two earned) on seven hits. Junior Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) pitched three and two-third innings in relief and did not surrender an earned run.
The teams will complete the four-game MIAA series tomorrow with a doubleheader at Adrian's Nicolay Field, beginning at 1 p.m.
