Olivet College’s Purdy named MIAA Co-Player of the Week

Purdy had a .417 batting average (5-for-12), as the Comets opened MIAA play March 27-28 with three wins against Hope College. In addition, he drove in five runs, scored three times and did not commit an error in 25 chances at first base.
For the season, Purdy leads the team with a .400 batting average (18-for-45) and 18 RBI. He has also recorded 11 runs scored, five doubles, one home run, 26 total bases, .578 slugging percentage and .460 on-base percentage. Purdy has made only three errors in 106 chances for a .972 fielding percentage.
Olivet (6-7, 3-1 MIAA) will play a non-conference game today at University of Toledo (Ohio), beginning at 3 p.m. The Comets will then play a four-game league series against Trine (Ind.) University. The teams will play a doubleheader in Olivet Thursday at 2 p.m., and then a doubleheader at Trine's Jannen Field Saturday at 1 p.m.
