The Olivet College baseball team defeated Gordon (Mass.) College, 12-3, this afternoon at the RussMatt Invitational in Auburndale, Fla.
Sophomore Ben Kosmalski (Canton/Plymouth) led the Comet offense, going 2-for-4 with four RBI. Sophomore Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) was 3-for-4 with a run scored and RBI. Junior Matt Smoker (Bronson) went 1-for-1 at the dish and scored four runs.
Senior Scott Purdy (Traverse City/West) had two hits, while scoring twice and driving in a pair of runs. Senior Brandon Goodman (Portage/Portage Central) also scored two runs and stole a base to go along with two hits. On the mound, junior Tyler Kelly (Marshall) earned the victory. He tossed seven innings and allowed one earned one on five hits, while striking out two and walking one.
Olivet returns to the field tomorrow against Beloit (Wisc.) College at 12:45 p.m.
