The Battling Bishops led 9-3 through eight innings. The Comets did not go down quietly in the top half of the ninth. They scored three runs and brought the tying run to the plate.
Junior Scott Purdy (Traverse City/West) was 3-for-4 with two singles and a solo home run. He collected three RBI. Junior Rob Swanson (Marshall) was also 3-for-4 and scored a run. Junior Brandon Goodman (Portage/Central) and freshman Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) each had two hits and scored one run. Goodman also drove in one run. On the mound, freshman Sean Alexander (Fenton) suffered the loss, allowing eight runs (four earned) on nine hits.
The Comets will take tomorrow off and return to action Tuesday afternoon for a single, nine-inning game against Heidelberg (Ohio) College.
