The Olivet College baseball team fell to Oakland University, 15-2, today at the OU Baseball Field in Rochester.

The Grizzlies scored at least one run in six different innings. The Comets (15-17) pushed across their two runs in the third innings. Freshman Phil Sullens (Belleville) was hit by a pitch and went to second base when junior Brandon Goodman (Portage/Central) drew a walk.
Senior Michael Katlin (Howell) was the next batter and he lined a 1-0 pitch into left field to score Sullens and advance Goodman to second. Freshman Ben Kosmalski (Canton/Plymouth) walked on four straight pitches to load the bases. Freshman Braydon LaFramboise (Flushing/Mt. Morris) reached base on a fielding error by the Oakland third baseman, which also allowed Goodman to score.
For the game, junior Scott Purdy (Traverse City/West) had two hits to raise his season batting average to .353. Senior Eric Quinn (Port Huron/Northern) also collected two hits. Sophomore Richard Gottardo (Warren/Center Line) was the losing pitcher.
Olivet will now turn its focus to a key Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association four-game series against Adrian College. The Comets and Bulldogs will play a doubleheader in Olivet tomorrow, beginning at 2 p.m. The series moves to Adrian's Nicolay Field for a doubleheader Saturday, starting at 1 p.m.
