With the score tied at 2-2 entering the sixth inning, the second game of the doubleheader was suspended because of the darkness. The game will be completed tomorrow at 1 p.m. before the scheduled doubleheader in Alma.
In the first game, the Comets (10-10, 4-7 MIAA) scored their run in the first inning and then were held without a run for 11 innings. Senior Derek Ott (Kawkawlin/Bay City Western) hit a double to rightfield. He moved to third base on a wild pitch and scored when the Alma catcher threw the ball into the outfield. A throwing error allowed the Scots to score an unearned run in the fifth. There were two outs in the 12th when a fielding error allowed the winning run to score for Alma.
Offensively, Ott and sophomore Cody Goodell (Davison) each had two hits. Ott had a pair of doubles, while Goodell had two singles. Three other Comets had a hit a piece. On the mound, sophomore Steven Oginsky (New Lothrop) was the hard luck loser, allowing one run on one hit. He struck out two and walked two.

Senior Sean Howard (Charlotte/Potterville) led off with a double off the left-centerfield fence. With two outs, senior Chris Shelhart (Rolling Meadows, Ill./St Viator) doubled in the same gap, which scored Howard from second.
Alma answered with another unearned run in the top half of the fourth inning. The Comets forced another tie, 2-2, by scoring a run in the home half of the fifth inning. Senior Todd Driver (Charlotte) reached base on an infield bunt single. Shelhart walked to advance Driver to second. An infield bunt single by Ott loaded the bases. Senior Nick McIntosh (Petoskey) lifted a sacrifice fly score Driver.
Before Alma came up to bat to start the sixth inning, the umpires officially suspended the game.
