Olivet College senior catcher Nick McIntosh (Petoskey) and senior centerfielder Chris Shelhart (Rolling Meadows, Ill./St. Viator) have been named to the 2007 All-Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) first-team for baseball. All-MIAA honors are based on a player's statistics during the 28-game league schedule.
McIntosh, a 2006 second-team All-MIAA selection, had a .324 batting average. In the MIAA, he tied for first in doubles (eight), tied for third in home runs (three) and was fifth in RBI (24) and total bases (51). Behind the plate, McIntosh had a .969 fielding percentage and threw out 10 base runners trying to steal a base.
Shelhart ranked among the league leaders in eight offensive categories, including batting average (3rd, .432), slugging percentage (5th, .579), on-base percentage (2nd, .526), runs scored (5th, 27), hits (1st, 41), total bases (3rd, 55), walks (4th, 20) and plate appearance (2nd, 116). He also earned first-team All-MIAA honors in 2004 and 2005.
In addition, senior Brad Dragicevich (Kalamazoo/Central) and junior Dave Pembroke (Bay City/John Glenn) earned coaches' honorable mention honors.
The Comets ended the 2007 campaign with a 14-26 overall record and 8-20 MIAA mark.
