McIntosh named MIAA Player of the Week
Sophomore catcher Nick McIntosh (Petoskey) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for March 29-April 4. An Olivet player is receiving this honor for the second straight week.
Sophomore catcher Nick McIntosh (Petoskey) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Player of the Week for March 29-April 4. An Olivet player is receiving this honor for the second straight week.
McIntosh hit .538 (seven-of-13), collected 11 RBIs and scored seven runs in a MIAA series at Tri-State (Ind.) University April 1-2. His seven hits consisted of two doubles and five home runs for a 1.846 slugging percentage. In addition, the five home runs and 24 total bases broke MIAA series records.
For the season, McIntosh ranks second on the team with a .486 batting average, .726 slugging percentage, 27 hits, six home runs, 29 RBIs and 53 total bases. He is tied for second with four doubles and third with 19 runs scored.
McIntosh and the Fighting Comets (10-8, 2-4 MIAA) will host Alma College for a MIAA series April 8-9. On Friday, the teams will play a nine-inning contest at 4 p.m. and on Saturday, the teams will play two seven-inning games beginning at 1 p.m.
