Shelhart named MIAA Player of the Week
Sophomore centerfielder Chris Shelhart (Rolling Meadows, Ill./St. Viator) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for March 21-28. He is being honored for the second time in his career.
Sophomore centerfielder Chris Shelhart (Rolling Meadows, Ill./St. Viator) has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Player of the Week for March 21-28. He is being honored for the second time in his career.
Shelhart hit .700 (seven-for-10) with four doubles and two home runs in a three-game league series against Adrian College March 25-26. He also collected six RBIs and scored three runs.
For the season, Shelhart leads the team with a .491 batting average, .964 slugging percentage, .547 on-base percentage, 27 base hits, 22 RBIs, 11 doubles, five home runs and 53 total bases. He ranks second on the team with 16 runs scored and four stolen bases.
Shelhart and the Fighting Comets (9-6, 1-2 MIAA) will host Concordia University today in a non-conference game at 3 p.m. Following today's game, Olivet will play a MIAA series at Tri-State (Ind.) University April 1-2. On Friday, the teams will play a nine-inning contest at 3 p.m. and on Saturday, the teams will play two seven-inning games beginning at 1 p.m.
